My personal site for all things about me.

My name is Ryan Heuer, I am a 25-year-old tech enthusiast with a huge passion for exploring the wonders of the universe through astrophotography. My website serves as a platform to showcase my creative work and niche hobby.

I have an unwavering passion for capturing the night sky, particularly the mesmerizing Milky Way and the wonders beyond. There’s nothing quite like witnessing our galaxy in its vivid glory, with its captivating colors, intricate structure, and profound sense of scale. Visiting a dark sky park reveals a pristine and untouched sky, devoid of light pollution. It transforms into a deep, inky black canvas adorned with countless stars. Gazing up long enough, it almost feels as if you’re floating amidst the cosmos. I wholeheartedly recommend lying on your back and simply staring straight up—it’s an experience that leaves an indelible mark on your soul.

When embarking on my nocturnal photography adventures, I always carry my trusty Sony cameras. They excel in capturing ultra-long exposures and stacking multiple frames to enhance the details. A few crucial factors contribute to my success in achieving these remarkable results: fast f/2.8 lenses, a high-resolution sensor, and low read noise. Currently, I’m using the Sony a7R III and a7R V. The “R” in their names signifies “Resolution.” The mark III boasts an impressive 42 megapixels, while the mark V surpasses that with a staggering 61 megapixels. If you’re eager to explore dark sky locations for your own night photography endeavors, I recommend visiting the nearest dark sky park [here].
